Nuages en pantalon – compagnie de création was founded in 2001 by four artists at the time graduating from the Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Québec around director Jean-Philippe Joubert.
From the very beginning, the company favored an approach where collective work is at the heart of the process and decided to create original theatrical works for all audiences. Depending on the intended purpose and form of a creation, the team chooses the audience for the show: - young or adult. This alternation between the different generations stimulates the creative process by allowing the various experiences to influence each other.
Nuages en pantalon has created more than 20 shows in Quebec City to date. Eleven of them have toured Quebec and Canada. The company has visited France twice with two of its young audience creations and performed in English in Western Canada with L'Ombre de l'escargot and Dans le noir, les yeux s'ouvrir. This last show also toured in China in 2017.
Active in its community, the company also offered several hundred workshops to children, teenagers and adults, in addition to participating in cultural outreach projects.
The company also brings together some of the most recognized artists in the Quebec City region. Their work has been nominated several times for various awards and has won several of them.
In front of more than 165,000 spectators, nearly 1,000 performances have been offered so far and the adventure continues.

Dessiner dans les marges is the story of a character who feels ordinary, invisible even. The 3rd year highschool student wanders the corridors of their school, dragging their B grades from one class to to the next. Within their family, the teenage ghost tries to exist between a musician big sister who rocks on the drums and an ultra-bright little brother who impresses everyone at the science club.
Through their reflections, this part-time ghost weaves their way through their ordinary life until Someone turns it upside down.

Two curious, dynamic friends with dazzling imaginations invite audiences aged 8 to 12 to a grand celebration of science, a universe they use as a creative motor to invent stories and gain a new understanding of the world we live in.
Les idées lumière takes up the challenge of turning science into a theatrical, poetic and playful work. Using physical and chemical experiments with spectacular potential, small stories are created and brought together in a cabaret of multiple atmospheres.
Combining theater and science, this production has been presented over 100 times since its creation in 2019.
